Atlanta Preservation Center Phoenix Flies begins on March 7th, 2014 thru March 23rd, 2014. Each year the Atlanta Preservation Center celebrates our Atlanta history by showcasing historic buildings, landscapes and neighborhoods for the month of March. There are over 100 buildings, landscapes and neighborhoods that are eligible for the National Register. Best of all this Atlanta Event is Free! However, some tours do require a reservation, so be sure and check with the Atlanta Preservation Center Phoenix Flies before going.
This year is the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Atlanta and a perfect time to celebrate how Atlanta rose from the devastation to celebrate our historic treasures of today. There will be over 230 Atlanta Events and nearly 100 City sites for you to enjoy. The kick-off of this Atlanta Event will be at the LP Grant Mansion, the Atlanta Preservation Center Headquarters on March 7th at 6 p.m. They will showcase photographs of 40 historic buildings protected by Easements Atlanta.
These are some of the Atlanta Preservation Center Phoenix Flies Tours I am looking forward to this year. On the Atlanta Beltline History Walk you will explore the historic highlights of the Eastside Trail and Beltline Arboretum. Ivy Hall was built for the Peters Family in 1883 and restored by Savannah College of Art and Design. It is now a writing and cultural arts center for SCAD. The Piedmont Park History Tours begins when it was farmland, then site of the Cotton Expedition in 1896 and now one of Atlanta’s favorite parks. You can find your favorite tours at Atlanta Preservation Center Phoenix Flies .
One of my favorite City of Atlanta Landmarks Buildings and also Individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places is our Atlanta Bed and Breakfast, Shellmont Inn. It was built in 1891 by Dr. William Perrin Nicholson as a wedding present for his bride, Carolyn Crane. The newspapers of the time describe it as the Wedding of the South, with the most eligible bachelor marrying an Atlanta Socialite. I can’t imagine the inn being your wedding present from your husband or your first starter home! The next time you want to experience a Landmark Building from the inside-out make your reservation at our Atlanta Bed and Breakfast.
See you at the Atlanta Preservation Center Phoenix Flies!
