Ocean Voyger is the largest gallery at the Georgia Aquarium with 6.3 million gallons of water, 100 foot long underground tunnel and over 4,500 square feet of area to view the largest fish species in the world, Whale Sharks. You will be mesmorized as the grouper, stingrays swim overhead with whale sharks and manta rays.
The Georgia Explorer Gallery features several touchpools with horseshoe crabs, sea starts, stingray, shrimp and one of my favorites, loggerhead turtles. Several years ago, I had the honor or watching a Loggerhead turtle make her long journey up a sandy beach and nest, laying over 200 eggs. The whole process took several hours, until she made her way back to the ocean only to swim away. Only about ten percent will survive.
As you tour the River Scout Gallery you will see a diverse group of animals found in Asia, South America and even right here in Georgia.
One of the newest galleries to open is Frogs – A Chorus of Colors. You will see 15 different species of frogs that are brillantly colored be seranated with there sounds. As your journey thru the Georgia Aquarium winds down don’t miss the Tropical Diver Gallery showcasing an array of colorful tropical coral reefs.
When thinking about the perfect place to spend the day remember the Georgia Aquarium is less than one mile from our Bed and Breakfast in Atlanta.
